Old IronTown Settlement

We drove about 30 minutes west of Cedar City to see the old IronTown Settlement. There are remnants of an old home, a charcoal kiln, and a molding house - all for producing ore and iron.

Old homesite with chimney, floorboards and even plaster left in some places on the walls.

I saw a facebook post about this flyover, so we went and sat on the lawn at the middle school and waited to see the jets.

Easter in Quarantine

As we started the new year, we never would have guessed that the whole world would be in quarantine for Easter.  But here we are...

Easter was pretty subdued.  We did a simple Easter egg hunt with candy and cash.

Savannah bought the large chocolate Easter Bunny for the family with some of her coloring contest winnings.

To stay slightly active during quarantine, we have been taking daily walks to see these horses about a mile from our house.

Clutch Work on the Motorcycle

The previous owner of the KTM motorcycle had installed an auto clutch and removed the clutch lever.  So Keith tried to reinstall the clutch lever -- only to find that the clutch was not designed to work with a lever (even though most similar clutches are).  So Tucker helped him put it all back together exactly the way it was to begin with.

We had no instructions and Rev-Loc, the manufacturer, has been out of business for a long time, so it took some studying and guesswork, especially determining if we found all of the ball bearings that had fallen into the engine while disassembling it.  But we studied the bearing races and counted the number with wear (33 out of the 36 slots were used).

Carson's macro photography

Recently, I have found that I enjoy macro photography. A few days ago, I found a magnifying glass. I tried to take a picture through it, and I found out that I could create a macro effect with it. I found a few of my hot wheels to take pictures. These first few pictures are a '65 Ford Ranchero that I got as a present from Aunt Teresa and Uncle Rogan.

This is the decaled door of my Dodge 1500.

This is Tucker's Chevrolet Camaro.

This is the helicopter that my Uncle Brent flies. It is a Robinson R44.

This is a Guardian from The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild.

This is a dismantled electric motor.

This is a Lego minifigure of Tucker's.

I measured the magnification, and it has a magnification of 10x at the most.

Savannah Wins Big! Thanks InfoWest

Tucker and Savannah both entered coloring contests hosted by companies throughout the city.  We just found out that Savannah won first place in the InfoWest contest.

The prize: $50 Walmart Gift Card

She is SO EXCITED!

Thank you InfoWest.

UPDATE: With her winnings, she bought a rotisserie chicken, some makeup, and some candy.  She kept some cash and put the remainder in savings.
